Chef Eric invites you to turn the kitchen decoration around with easy tips to achieve a comfortable, pleasant, and fun kitchen environment for those special summer moments with family and friends.
Here are Chef Eric’s Summer-Ready Decorating Ideas to inspire you:
- White – Trendy Color:
Achieve the perfect summer environment by adding a touch of white to your kitchen! Adding white to your kitchen brings clarity to the space. You can’t go wrong with white as this color never goes out of style, and it goes great in any season of the year. “White has stood the test of time because it’s clean and fresh,” says award-winning designer Mick de Giulio, of de Giulio Kitchen Design in Wilmette, Ill. “And those two words — clean and fresh — are classic words for describing a great kitchen. There isn’t a better way to approach design.”Countertops, furniture, and walls of this color look great. You can also combine the white color with details of other striking colors in utensils, appliances, chairs, and lamps. White is the ultimate neutral — every color looks great paired with white: light fixtures, cabinet hardware, and tile accents come alive!
- Flower Pots:
Betting on natural and green colors are inexpensive options, and they complement very well with white. Flower pots are ideal for decorating! These pots can be made of different materials, shapes, and colors. In addition to fulfilling a decorative function, they can also be used to sow aromatics and spices for cooking, and give the final touch to our dishes. It is recommended to have basic aromatic plants at home. Plants such as bay leaf, spearmint, thyme, parsley, mint, and rosemary. Each one has its special aroma and shape. This will bring a good smell, and a great visual atmosphere to the kitchen. Include live flowers, plants, or preserved flowers! A vertical garden is also a trendy summer idea that works amazing for the kitchen space!
- Illumination:
Every space in our home should have good lighting, and even more so when we talk about work spaces, such as the kitchen. The space where we spend much of our time either accompanied or alone. Keep in mind that led lights are the best option. They are eco-friendly and safe! These do not harm the environment since they do not contain mercury. They work with low voltage direct current, considerably reducing lamp discharges and domestic accidents due to electrocution. They are also great for your pocket as they will reduce your electricity bill. Opting for some striking colored lamps as we already mentioned, will make lighting a different focal point in our kitchen. - Art:
The diversity of the details will make your kitchen an original space that adapts to your personality. Art is an excellent component to add to our kitchens! Many opt for the classic art related to fruits and vegetables. However, in the market we find different options that can be adapted to our taste, providing more liveliness to this large family space. You can even get extra creative and hang some pictures!
- Clean and Organize your Kitchen:
This is not just summer advice! Chef Eric could dedicate several blogs to advise you on how to organize and keep the kitchen clean. Order and cleanliness in our kitchen are essential to keep us physically and mentally healthy. If we have elements such as organizing boxes: they will help us to separate utensils, ingredients, and kitchenware. Regardless of the kitchen space, this will make it easier to locate items and for everything to stay in place.
Kitchen spaces are recommended to have a cleaning period depending on the use and function they fulfill. For example, the countertops, the stove, and the dishwasher are recommended to be cleaned and disinfected daily. The refrigerator and the oven are recommended to be cleaned, and disinfected once a month. Organizing and cleaning your kitchen will revitalize and clear your mind. A clean kitchen space calls for less stress, and less anxiety. The result will be an adequate space where you will find motivation to make better recipes, and a great room for social gatherings. Good kitchen hygiene also keeps your body free from any bacteria and germs.
